Sam Asghari, the husband of Britney Spears, has filed for divorce from the singer after 14 months of marriage. The filing was confirmed by a person familiar with the matter, who is close to Asghari but not authorized to speak publicly.
Spears and Asghari were married on June 9, 2022, at her home in Thousand Oaks, California. The wedding was attended by several celebrities, including Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, and Paris Hilton.
The couple met in 2016 when Asghari appeared in Spears’ music video for the song “Slumber Party.” They announced their engagement in September 2021, shortly before the end of Spears’ 13-year conservatorship.
In May 2022, Spears announced that she and Asghari had lost a baby early in the pregnancy.
The news of the divorce comes amid reports that the couple had been having problems for some time.
Spears was previously married to Jason Alexander in 2004 for less than three days. She was also married to Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007. They have two sons together.
